The Plan So Far …
The tour begins in Belfast on Monday, 2nd August 2027, with registration followed by a private tour of the Titanic Exhibition and a welcome dinner in the stunning Titanic Quarter.
Over the next few days, we’ll visit four exceptional farms, showcasing bothBlack and Belted Galloways. Delegates will also have the chance to explore some of Northern Ireland’s most famous landmarks — from the dramatic Giant’s Causeway to the fascinating Ulster American Folk Parkin Omagh.
Crossing to Scotland
On Friday, 6th August, we’ll take the ferry from Belfast to Scotland, arriving in Stranraer for a visit to aDun and White Galloway herd before heading to our central base — the beautifully refurbished Gretna Hotel.
The Dumfries Show will showcase an outstanding display of both Black and Belted Galloway cattle. Then, on Sunday, 8th August, our Congress Conference and a talk which will reflect on 150 years of the Galloway Cattle Society— followed by an evening of celebration with a special “Touch of Tartan” themed dinner.
Next, we’ll journey into the beautiful Lake District, where farm visits will highlight how Galloway cattle play a vital role in conservation and countryside regeneration. A lake steamer cruise will round off our time in this breathtaking region.
Northumberland & Beyond
From there, we move east toNorthumberland, rich in Roman history, for more farm visits featuring Black and Belted Galloways in their natural settings.
Our final day,Wednesday, 11th August, takes us toSouth West Scotland, visiting two exceptional herds not featured in the 2016 Congress — both highly regarded in the sale rings at Castle Douglas and Carlisle. We’ll finish the tour in style with aFarewell Gala Dinner, celebrating new friendships, shared experiences, and our beloved Galloway breed.
